Talk: With My Own Eyes
|January 12, 2017|
|7:30 pm||to||9:30 pm|
Friends Meeting House
Cambridge CB5 8BA
Organised by Cambridge City Amnesty Group
Paul Clark served recently as an Ecumenical Accompanier (*EA*) with *EAPPI* (the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel). It included standing as a human rights monitor at Israeli military checkpoints when Palestinians were trying to get to work, places of education/worship, etc.; providing a (nonviolent) protective presence for Palestinian children going to school/shepherds and farmers working in their fields; and, working with Israeli peace activists who want to see an end to Israel’s brutal occupation of Palestine.
In addition, Paul spent a lot of time working with various Bedouin communities who face *forcible transfer* which is illegal under international law. What affected him most, however, were the *house demolitions* carried out by the Israeli military; Paul’s team were called out to dozens of them while they were in Jerusalem. Such demolitions are also illegal under international law.
Come and listen to Paul share his experiences.
After the talk there will be an opportunity to discuss any future actions and campaigns by the Cambridge City Group’s Subgroup which focuses on Israel and Occupied Palestinian Territories. If you would like to be involved in the subgroup, but cannot make the meeting, please e-mail Sheila Hakin on email@example.com .
Around 9-9:30pm the Cambridge City Group’s campaign meeting will start. We will discuss current campaigns and events. All are welcome to stay and contribute.
There will also be letters for signing, including with regards to human rights abuses in Israel and Occupied Palestinian Territories, but also elsewhere.
